(Left to Right) BEFORE: Ho-hum student comfort; AFTER: This fun yet classic look fits Juli’s creative personality and makes a powerful first impression.Juli Knutson, a graphic design graduate from State College of Florida, wants to get back into the workforce with smart style. Her ultimate job would be working with an ad agency, design firm or book publisher doing book jacket design and layout.

JULI’S GOAL: “I would like my clothes to say that I am polished and current. Not too stuffy, not too trendy. Just the right mix.”

JACKIE’S APPROACH: “Juli has a classic style and loves a tailored look without fussy details. I wanted to work within her style, but give her something a little different from just the basic black she gravitates toward. I selected a modern-cut pant in ivory instead of black as her foundation piece; ivory is such a classic look that pairs well with any color. I chose a tweed, tailored blazer fitted to her silhouette to give her shape definition and paired it with a lavender silk camisole to soften the look. Earrings and a necklace complement her fabulous short haircut and add the finishing touch. Juli’s favorite color is fuchsia, so the iPad case was a must for her artistic side.”

JULI’S TAKE: “I felt great putting on these clothes and immediately felt comfortable. After two years of student attire, it felt good to be dressed up for work.”
