Two Local Fashion Experts Share The Pieces They're Loving for Fall 2021

Here's what they're excited to wear this season.

Fashion lovers are saying bye-bye to skinny jeans and hello to relaxed denim and cool sneakers.

When fall hits, the temperatures drop a bit—even in Florida!—humidity becomes more bearable, and it's time to transition our summer wardrobe for those slightly cooler nights.

We talked to a few local experts about what they're most excited about for fall.

Layering Pieces

The ability to layer different pieces and change the look of an outfit makes fall the most versatile season, says Amber Duncan, owner of Jackie in Brandenton. She offers in-house styling services with high-quality brands curated for customer's needs. Duncan says her customers want a timeless wardrobe and are achieving that by investing in comfortable high-end pieces, like denim and sweaters.

'90s Denim

We're saying "as if" to skinny jeans and making room for straight-leg and wide-leg jeans. And let's be honest: after the past year and a half, we're all for these roomier, less constricting styles. To wit: "As I get older, it's not about showing off skinny legs, or figure-hugging clothing—feeling comfortable in my clothes and in myself is more important," fashion editor and The Frugality blogger Alexandra Stedman recently told Elle UK

Distressed Sneakers

These on-trend vintage Havana sneakers are available from T. Georgiano's in downtown Sarasota.

These are a fun way to spice up a basic outfit. Cult favorite Golden Goose sneakers— which, at $500-plus a pop, are designed to look perfectly distressed—paired with Bermuda pants and a crop top are the perfect Floridian fall outfit, says Duncan. The $140 Vintage Havana high-tops from T. Georgiano's in downtown Sarasota, above, also fit the bill.

Puffy, Quilted, Textured Handbags

Bottega Veneta, Amber Duncan

Jackie's Amber Duncan carries the "It bag" of the season: the Bottega Veneta Jodie handbag in white.

The quilted, padded look is going to be a huge trend going into fall, says Duncan. A handbag—like the Bottega Veneta Jodie bag she's carrying above, which is beloved by Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner and Rihanna—is a great way to dabble in the trend without having to invest in a heavy jacket or sweater like our Northern friends might.

Comfortable Leggings

Paired with a cropped cardigan, these camouflage Beyond Yoga leggings add an autumn flair to an everyday staple.

Investing in comfort looks different for everyone. For some, it means gravitating toward elevated basics or athleisure. T. Georgiano's owner Tatyana Sharoubim recommends Beyond Yoga leggings. Super soft and comfortable, they're perfect for afternoon walks around the neighborhood or lounging around the house, since that's what we're all up to these days, anyway.

Cardigans

For an elevated look, Tatyana Sharoubim, owner of T. Georgiano's, pairs her cardigan with a Free People lace bodysuit, flared trousers and braided sandals.

Cardigans are the perfect layering piece for Floridians. Whether cropped or full-length, they're perfect for cooler mornings and evenings. Because they can vary in length, they're also an easy way to add visual interest to your outfit.
