Interior Design Finds with a Modern Twist from David Lowe
A registered interior designer, David is co-owner of David K. Lowe Interior Design along with his wife, Wendy Andrus-Lowe. Here are five design finds he's loving right now.
Rocking Lounge Chair – Bird Chaise by Cappellini.
I love the very simple form of this chair. Like an origami bird, it is sculptural seating that rocks. In bold upholstery these are ideal for an accent splash of color, as contrast to an all-white modern environment.
Large Format Porcelain – Plane by Stonepeak.
Typically, man-made “imitation” materials are a definite no in our design practice. This product, however, is an exciting exception to our rule. The accuracy of color and texture is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. Super thin, it’s available in sizes up to 60 inches by 120 inches.
Peg Wine Storage System – Vin DeGarde
Modernist simplicity at its finest, these stainless steel pegs provide for cork-out or label-out bottle orientation. Providing for absolutely no clutter, this storage system is the ultimate for ultra-modern wine cellars.
Leather Wall Panels – Spinneybeck
These architectural wall panels take exquisite upholstery leather beyond the typical furniture use. The panels can be flush or in beautiful relief. The leather is stitched and applied to sculpted CNC machined substrates in geometric patterns.
Colorful Pendant Lights – Miyako by Artemide Lighting
Made of bright-colored, minimalist square rods, used singularly or in multiples, these L.E.D. pendants make for a cool modern statement. They remind me of the Cuisenaire rods I used when learning math as a kid at Anna Maria Elementary School.
