Upcoming Garden and Architectural Walking Tours

It’s springtime, and several events await.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The Cultural Landscape Foundation garden tours have been postponed to a date TBD.

The Cultural Landscape Foundation, a national nonprofit that “educates and engages the public to make our shared landscape heritage more visible, identify its value, and empower its stewards,” brings its 2020 Gardens Dialogue tour to Sarasota March 28 and 29 to visit four spectacular private gardens. On March 28 tour-goers will visit a modern urban retreat designed by landscape architect Michael Gilkey. On March 29, three projects designed by DWY Landscape Architects will be visited: two on Bird Key and one West of Trail. Participation is limited; click here to reserve your spot. 

Center for Architecture Sarasota presents another of John McCarthy’s popular architectural walking tours Thursday, March 12 at 3:30 p.m. McCarthy will lead participants through downtown Sarasota’s “citrus streets”—Orange, Lemon, Pineapple and more. Tickets are $25 for CFAS members; $35 for nonmembers. Details here

The Sarasota Garden Club’s annual Gardens in Paradise tour is Saturday, March 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $30 for garden club members; $35 for nonmembers. Addresses of the homes will not be released until day of. Click here for details. 

And Selby Gardens presents a Wine & Design event March 18, with the theme “A Surreal Fantasy” to connect with the gardens’ current Salvador Dali exhibit. The hands-on floral design workshop will be led by So Staged Event Design, Rentals & Florals. Participants will produce their own floral arrangements. Tickets are $65 for gardens members; $75 for guests. Click here for details.
