The office of the Sarasota County supervisor of elections last week began sending out vote-by-mail ballots for the Democratic primary election between Margaret Good and Ruta Jouniari in the Florida House District 72 special election. The primary ends Tuesday, Dec. 5. The winner of the Democratic primary will face Republican James Buchanan and Libertarian Alison Foxall during the general election, which ends Tuesday, Feb. 13. The election was called because of the resignation of former state Rep. Alex Miller, R-Sarasota, who quit after serving less than a year in office. The special election is expected to cost taxpayers $300,000, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
