The City of Sarasota and the Florida Department of Transportation activated a new pedestrian crosswalk signal on U.S. 41 in downtown Sarasota on Thursday. The crosswalk, located at the intersection of 41 and First Street, stops traffic as needed for pedestrians to cross. The number of pedestrians crossing 41 in the area is expected to rise rapidly with increased development nearby.
