Sarasota litigation attorney Jade Davis of Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick, LLP, was recently selected to be a mentor for The Bridge Builders Esq. National Mentorship Program for Aspiring Black Lawyers. A partnership between National Pre-Law Diversity Initiatives, Inc., the National Black Law Students Association, the National Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and the National Bar Association Law Students Division, the program is open to black college students, graduates, and working professionals who are interested in attending law school and could benefit from additional guidance, support and accountability to stay on course to accomplish their goals.

Each pre-law student will gain support from a small group of mentoring circles, based on common interests, including one law student, one lawyer, and five to six accountability partners. Through the mentoring circles, the inaugural classes of lawyer mentors and law student mentors will be serving 350-plus Black pre-law mentees nationwide. Davis is one of 60 lawyer mentors who were recruited from various professional networks and black bar associations across the United States. In addition to her work at Shumaker, Loop and Kendrick, Davis works with numerous  local organizations, including Legal Aid of Manasota, Sarasota County Bar Association’s Diversity and Inclusion Council, and the Florida Bar’s statewide Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
