Support Our Schools to Host Forum on Censorship

The event, which will take place at Fogartyville Media and Arts Center, is free and open to the public.

Support Our Schools—a nonprofit organization formed to support public schools and ensure to quality education for all children—will hold a forum on censorship on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. at Fogartyvillle Media and Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public and will be livestreamed on WSLR and the Support Our Schools Facebook page.

A panel will discuss recent legislation passed by the Florida legislature, including Don’t Say Gay (HB 1557), the Stop Woke Act (HB 7) and the Book Banning Bill (HB 1467). Th speakers are Lois Wilkins, chair of the African American Cultural Resource Center; Rabbi Jennifer Singer; spiritual leader of Congregation Kol HaNeshama; Georgia Court, owner of Bookstore1Sarasota and founder of PoetryLife; Rex Ingerick, president-elect of the Sarasota Classified/Teachers Association; and Jeremy Baldwin and Gail Foreman, Sarasota County Schools teachers.
