Visit Sarasota County just announced that it's signed its first-ever name, image, and likeness (NIL) deal with Emma Weyant, a member of the 2024 USA Olympic swim team and a Sarasota native.

After competing in the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials in June, Weyant was named to the 2024 U.S. Olympic swim team and will compete in the Paris Olympics in the 400-meter individual medley. It's the same event for which she won a silver medal at the 2020 Toyko Olympics

A former member of the Sarasota Sharks swim team, Weyant swam with the University of Virginia Cavaliers, leading the team to a NCAA team championship, before transferring to the University of Florida in 2022.

“I moved to Sarasota very early, and I started swimming with the Sarasota Sharks when I was 9," Weyant told us in March. "I would swim at the beach all the time. Now that I’m at UF, my favorite thing to do is come home and visit my sisters. They all still live in Sarasota. The beach is my favorite place to be. Turtle Beach is my favorite place.”

In addition to her swimming career, Weyant is a budding fashion designer. This spring, she launched her second swimwear collection with Sporti and Swim Outlet called Sporti x Emma Weyant Riveria Reverie; the photos for the collection were shot at Marina Jack in downtown Sarasota.

“We are thrilled to partner with Emma, a true hometown hero, as she represents the U.S. and Sarasota on the world stage this summer,” Erin Duggan, president and CEO of Visit Sarasota County, said in a statement. “Her achievements and connection to our community make Emma the perfect ambassador for Sarasota."

Through the NIL deal, Weyant will be featured in Visit Sarasota marketing materials and on its website and social media, highlighting the area as a destination for visitors, sports enthusiasts and sporting events. The deal also sets a precedent for future partnerships with local athletes and personalities—part of Visit Sarasota County's mission to attract more tourists and sports teams to the region.
