Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall

For many, the 2021–2022 performance season in Sarasota marks a long-awaited opportunity to dust off our most glamorous shoes and enjoy a night at the theatre once more.

While we’ve enjoyed a variety of virtual offerings over the past year, there is no replacement for the magic of live entertainment: that feeling of enchantment just before your favorite show begins, the last few guests have taken their seats, the lights dim, and the hall grows quiet with anticipation as everyone awaits that very first note. The feeling is real, and demand is high for the return of live performances. There’s no denying it: BROADWAY is BACK, and so is the Van Wezel.

There are inevitably going to be those who wait to purchase tickets until showtime, but our friends at the box office are urging resident theatre lovers to buy early and lock in those seats. Van Wezel subscribers get the best seats in the house, save up to 20% on select shows, and renew their favorite seats before the general public. Different types of subscription packages are available to suit all tastes, too!

The North American tour of Come From Away

This season, Come From Away will finally make its Sarasota debut, inspiring us with its poignant message of finding hope while overcoming adversity. Additional Sarasota debuts include An American in Paris, filled with the audience’s favorite Gershwin tunes; Anastasia, which will take us to Paris in the 1920s; and An Officer and A Gentleman, based on the Oscar-winning film and featuring one of the most romantic finales ever portrayed on screen. The Choir of Man also makes its much-anticipated Sarasota debut, bringing a pub (yes, a pub) to the Van Wezel’s stage while its talented cast sings well-known tunes paired with high-energy dance and live percussion.

The Four Phantoms bring their show to the theater on Valentine’s Day, and Sheléa, who has previously performed at the hall with Dave Koz and David Foster, will headline her own evening of superstar musicianship: Natural Woman, a Night of Soul.
