Floridians will travel 50 miles this July Fourth.

Every year, AAA predicts travel patterns for Independence Day. According to the company's forecast, this year will be the second busiest since 2000, with an estimated 2.6 million Floridians traveling 50 miles or more on the holiday weekend. That's 4 percent more than last year's July Fourth and just slightly below 2019's numbers.

Despite record high gas prices, AAA forecasts 2.3 million Floridians will take a holiday road trip this year—that's the most on record since 2001. Florida gas is 64 percent more expensive than last year, and prices at the pump this weekend will be the most expensive in the holiday's history.
