At a time when so many people feel angry, threatened and pitted against one another, the idea of bringing people together can seem like wishful thinking. But for our 2023 Unity Award winners (our 13th class of honorees), bridging gaps between people and communities is anything but a fantasy. It’s what they do day in, day out, with little expectation of reward or recognition. Whether it’s steering a frightened populace through a pandemic, helping people with mental illnesses find a place to live or teaching kids to thrive through the art of ballet, this year’s winners are leading all of us toward a more hopeful future.
