Sarasota Memorial Health Care System president and chief executive officer David Verinder was recently named chair of the board of directors of the Safety Net Hospital Alliance of Florida. The alliance represents 14 safety net health care systems around the state. Those hospitals make up only 10 percent of the state's total number of hospitals, but have been instrumental in caring for patients suffering from Covid-19. Together, they have cared for 60 percent of Florida patients who have been stricken with the coronavirus and required hospitalization. Verinder will serve a two-year term as chair of the organization.
