Tommy Bahama, the national restaurant and clothing chain that has had a prominent presence on St. Armands Circle for decades, is introducing a new concept to the area next month: Marlin Bar will open at the newly developed Center Point at Waterside on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

“Sarasota is such a great market for Tommy Bahama and one that we have been part of for almost 30 years, since opening our restaurant in St. Armands Circle," said Tommy Bahama chief executive officer Doug Wood in a press release. "Now we are excited to introduce our Marlin Bar concept to the area." According to Wood, the food and drinks at Marlin Bar will resemble what is served at Tommy Bahama, but the atmosphere will be "more relaxed" and "casual."

Marlin Bar will offer the chain's signature coconut shrimp, alongside dishes like blackened mahi mahi or filet mignon tacos, sliders and an ahi poke bowl. But unlike at the St. Armands location, at Marlin Bar, guests will order directly at the bar and wait for servers to bring their items to their table.

Marlin Bar will offer signature cocktails, rum drinks, beer and wine, as well as zero-proof cocktails (for which the chain has been pioneers in offering). The bar will also roll out live music during weekday evenings, and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar will be located at 6562 University Parkway, Suite 110, Sarasota. It will open on Wednesday, Oct. 9, and will be open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, call (941) 337-0568 or click here.
