You don’t have to look far to see the mark that circus king and art collector John Ringling left on Sarasota, from the art museum bearing his name to the causeway connecting our mainland to St. Armands Circle, his planned shopping destination. Now it’s time to celebrate Ringling’s 150th birthday, with an event Tuesday, May 31, at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, hosted by the museum’s foundation. Share a champagne toast, light bites, and a cash bar from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the preservation fund for John and Mable’s mansion, Ca’ d’Zan. To purchase tickets, call (941) 358-3180 or visit ringling.org. And to gain a sense of the man who so transformed our city, read this article https://www.sarasotamagazine.com/articles/2015/3/2/john-ringling-sarasota from our March 2015 issue.
