You may remember seeing the world premiere of Circus: Wandering City back in 2018, as the acclaimed ETHEL string quartet collaborated with the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art and Brooklyn Academy of Music to present a multimedia musical journey into the history of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, at the Historic Asolo Theater.

But if you did not, or if you just want to see it again, this piece, combining original music composed by the quartet with projected images, films and interviews from circus performers and workers, will now have its broadcast premiere (for free) starting this Friday, May 8, at 3 p.m. At the time of the premiere in 2018, the event marked ETHEL’s 20th anniversary and the 250th anniversary of the modern circus. For both circus and music lovers, it should provide an intriguing look into a complex world.

Tune in to ETHEL’s website, ethelcentral.org, and/or The Ringling’s site, ringling.org, and their social platforms to take a look and listen.
