Two much-missed midweek farmers' markets are back in action this week. The Phillippi Farmhouse Market in Sarasota and the Atlanta Braves Farmers Market in North Port will both reopen for the season this Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Vendors at the Phillippi market sell everything from fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs to local honey, Gulf seafood and Florida-grown mushrooms, but you can also make a meal out of a visit to the market. Grab a coffee from the Out and About cart, scarf a pizza from Polpo Pizza Co. and then enjoy a gooey doughnut from Peachey's Baking Company. Because of Covid-19, the market is asking customers to wear masks. The market is managed by the Friends of Sarasota County Parks and money raised there goes toward renovating the farmhouse on the Phillippi Estate Park property.

The Braves market sets up in the team's spring training facility, with some of the same vendors you'll find at other local farmers' markets, like Maggie's Seafood and Fermentlicious, plus many others. The seasonal market debuted last fall.

The Phillippi Farmhouse Market runs 9 a.m.-2 p.m. every Wednesday from October through April at Phillippi Estate Park, 5500 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. For more info, visit the market's website. The Atlanta Braves Farmers Market runs 8 a.m.-noon every Wednesday from October through March at CoolToday Park, 18800 S. West Villages Parkway, Venice. For more info, visit the market's website.
